The Taiwan Center for Mandarin Learning (TCML) at San Antonio is dedicated to helping adult learners develop practical Mandarin language skills while experiencing the rich culture and traditions of Taiwan. Established through the support of Taiwan’s Overseas Community Affairs Council (OCAC), TCML is part of a global network of learning centers that provide high-quality Mandarin education using proven teaching methods and educational resources.

As an official Taiwan Center for Mandarin Learning, we openly welcome all adults (18+) who are interested in learning Mandarin and Taiwanese Culture. No prior experience is necessary to register for our classes.

Whether you’re learning for travel, work, personal enrichment, or to connect with family and friends, our program is designed to help you build practical language skills while gaining a deeper appreciation for the Chinese language and culture.

TCML welcomes adults ages 18 and older, from complete beginners to learners looking to continue their Mandarin studies.

No. Our courses are designed for learners at different proficiency levels, and beginners are always welcome.

TCML teaches Mandarin using Traditional Chinese, giving students a strong foundation in both the spoken language and the writing system used in Taiwan and many Chinese-speaking communities around the world.

Language and culture are closely connected. By learning about traditions, customs, holidays, and everyday life, students gain a deeper understanding of how Mandarin is used in real-world contexts.

We teach Traditional Chinese, the writing system used in Taiwan, Hong Kong, and many overseas Chinese communities. Traditional Chinese preserves the language’s rich history and cultural heritage while providing students with a strong foundation in reading and writing. Once students understand Traditional Chinese, transitioning to Simplified Chinese later is generally easier than the reverse.
